Nokia 8 Android Flagship
The Nokia 6 was announced at the end of CES this month to the delight of many in the smartphone world – the Finnish name has been absent for a long time – but that handset may not have been the only Android-powered Nokia handset on display in Las Vegas.
A couple of videos gave us an extensive look at the Nokia 8. The company is expected to debut its next flagship at MWC, but apparently, Qualcomm reportedly showed off a new smartphone prototype codenamed Supreme, which could be introduced as Nokia 8 at the MWC in Barcelona next month. First of all, the physical shape of the device matches that of the Nokia 6. When it was launched HMD’s announcement leaned heavily on the design that was fashioned from a single block of metal for a luxury feel. That is present once more. The addition of physical buttons suggests a model higher up the portfolio.
Nokia 8 rumored specifications
- Nokia 8 flaunts 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) 518ppi Super AMOLED display protected with corning gorilla glass 5.
- Powered by Octa-Core Octa-core (4x2.45 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU alongside having a 6GB / 4GB RAM, 64GB / 128GB internal memory supporting expandable memory up to 256GB with microSD
- It is believed to feature Carl Zeiss optics of 24MP rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, OIS, EIS 3.0, 4K Video recording. At the front of the device, you’ll get a 12MP secondary camera and dual front firing stereo speakers.
- Other features include Fingerprint (front-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass notification LED, Fast battery charging, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (MIMO), Bluetooth 4.2 LE and an HRM sticker further suggests that there might be heart-rate monitor functionality available with the phone.
Even if Nokia 8 doesn’t end up being the Nokia Supreme’s official name, it’s still a pretty big hint because some of the most memorable past Nokia flagships sported “eight” in its name -- Nokia 808 Pureview, Nokia N82, and Nokia N8 -- to name a few. Nokia is also rumored to launch another flavor of the same device with Snapdragon 821 and 4GB of RAM.
HMD Global is expected to introduce the Nokia 8 at MWC Barcelona on 26 February 2017
