LeEco Le2 - The Killer Phone under 12,000
Le Eco, formally known as Le Tv, has become a popular name in India within a short span of time. The Chinese tech major launched its first set of devices (Le 1S and Le Max) in January 2016 that gained a lot of attention owing to their premium design, aggressive pricing and company's rich content ecosystem.
Specifications of LeEco Le2
- Sports 5.5-inch Full HD (1920x100) display @ 403ppi
- Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset which has an octa-core processor with one quad-core Cortex A72 cluster clocked at 1.8GHz and one quad-core Cortex A53 cluster clocked at 1.8GHz. It is paired with an Adreno 510 GPU.
- It also comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with no microSD card to expand.
- On the camera front, you get a 16MP sensor on the rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture and phase-detect AF along with an 8MP front-facing camera with a f/2.2 aperture and 1.4-micrometer pixel size.
- It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with LeEco’s proprietary EUI 5.8 skin atop it.
- There is a nano dual-SIM tray which supports 4G LTE (FDD-LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20 and TDD LTE Bands 38/40/41). There’s also support for Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/AGPS with GLONASS and BDS positioning, a fingerprint sensor on the rear IR Blaster and more
- All this is powered by a 3,000mAh battery which supports the Qualcomm QC 2.0 standard.
- On the button edge, you have the USB Type-C port which acts as a data transfer and charging port as well as a CDLA port for digital audio.
- Dimensions: 151.10 x 74.20 x 7.50 mm Weight: 153 gram
The biggest differentiating factor is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. As per LeEco, the company has developed its own standard for digital audio i.e. CDLA - Continual Digital Lossless Audio. LeEco claims that when combined with the company's CDLA earphones, the smartphone offers the best-in-class audio quality. We tried the earphones and the audio quality is really good. The sound is crystal clear, pleasingly loud but a bit light on bass.
LeEco has delivered quite a strong package for just under Rs. 12,000. There's a lot to like about the Le 2, especially the fact that it looks and feels like it should cost twice as much as it does. You get powerful hardware and plenty of little conveniences. If the audio and video streaming options appeal to you, that's a nice added bonus as well. On the downside, the software is not our favorite flavor of Android and camera performance is also just ordinary at best.
