Nokia D1C

Nokia's Android line up devices are on the way

Nokia has already confirmed to make a comeback in the smartphone industry next year and now rumors for its next launch has started gaining grounds as its first Android smartphone, code-named #Nokia #D1C, at the Mobile World Conference to be held in February 2017.

As Nokia’s non-compete clause with Microsoft (after the latter took over the company) finishes in 2017. The company is ditching Microsoft’s Windows OS in favor of Google’s Android OS, which has the largest market share among smartphones.

however, Nokia will not be making smartphones itself as there are no more manufacturing facilities it. It will just be acting as the owner of the brand and its patents while overseeing the development of new phones, which will be made by HMD global; a new company that was created earlier this year. HMD will be pairing Nokia’s patents and brand with Foxconn’s R&D and manufacturing.

Expected specifications of Nokia D1C as of now (not confirmed)
  • Powered by Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage.
  • Nokia D1C is expected to sport a 2K resolution display and be IP68 water and dust resistant.
  • Expected to incorporate with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.
  • May come in three Color variants, Gold, White, and Black. However
  • The Gold color option is expected to sport a fingerprint scanner underneath the Home Button.
  • The Nokia D1C is expected to come in Gold, White, and Black color variants.  while the others aren't.
The smartphone has rounded metal edges, with the 3.5mm audio jack on top, and the USB port and microphone at the bottom edge. There are capacitive buttons at the front (except for Gold, which sports a Home Button), and the volume and power buttons are housed on the right edge. From the leaked images, the Nokia D1C appears to have a glass back casing, however, we recommend you to take this leak with a pinch of salt until further evidence.

However, Nokia seems to build a long way of road-map for next couple of years in various other sectors other than smartphone market too as described below.
